That simple idea sparked a 50+ year journey — one that started in the open prairies of the Midwest and continues today in backyards, raised beds, and lawns across the country.

Here’s the story of how Enhanced Organics, Nutrx™, and GardenIQ came to be.

🌱 Where It All Started: A Naturalist with a Question

In the 1950s, a young agronomist freshly out of college began working in the chemical fertilizer and fungicide industry. Every year brought a new wave of more potent, more toxic products. But something about it didn’t sit right.

He asked:

“Why are we always chasing the next disease with stronger chemicals? What if we could make plants healthier so they didn’t get sick in the first place?”

He left the chemical industry behind to follow a different path — and eventually became the lead researcher of what would become Enhanced Organics. The technologies and philosophies he pioneered still guide our work today.

🌾 40 Years on the Prairie

In 1956, he got permission from the U.S. government to study federally protected prairie grasslands — some of the most naturally healthy and disease-resistant ecosystems in the country.

Over four decades, he took thousands of samples, ran tests, and asked bold questions:

• Why do prairie grasses resist drought, disease, and thatch buildup without any help?
• What’s happening in the soil that keeps plants so healthy — even without added fertilizer?
• Why do some plants in a diseased crop survive while others fail?

Through this work, he discovered something powerful: plants don’t just need more N-P-K — they need better support for root development, nutrient uptake, and natural immunity.

Our team used his research to develop early solutions for golf courses, vineyards, farms, and sod producers. The goal wasn’t just “greener grass” — it was deeper roots, stronger immunity, and long-term plant resilience.

• They need less water, even in drought
• They require less fertilizer to thrive
• They can reduce chemical usage by up to 80% — some golf courses did just that
